MyLab Accounting Tour Video Transcript

This is a transcript of the video on the Educator Features page and Student Features page.

Hi, I'm here to talk to you about some of the exciting features you'll find in MyLab Accounting. Created specifically for accounting students and instructors, MyLab Accounting brings all your course materials into one, easy to navigate, integrated learning application—designed to increase student engagement and improve results.

Today we’ll look at Homework and Practice questions, the Accounting Cycle Tutorial, Enhanced eText, Question Help, and Excel Projects.

The MyLab Accounting Homework and Practice Questions are correlated to the textbook. They generate algorithmically to give students unlimited opportunity for practice and mastery.

If a student gets stuck during homework, they receive personalized, contextual feedback to help them understand their mistake. In addition, tutorial help is provided to students through Learning Aids such as Help Me Solve This, DemoDoc Examples, Videos, and other multimedia assets for extra help at point-of-use.

For early and continued success, instructors can assign the Accounting Cycle Tutorial... That uses engaging videos and animations to illustrate each concept of the Accounting Cycle. Students are immediately assessed on their understanding and their performance is scored in the MyLab Accounting Gradebook.

Oftentimes, students read the chapters of the textbook, but still don’t understand how to apply the information they just read. With the MyLab Accounting Enhanced eText, content is brought to life for students so they engage in the material, versus passively reading it. Embedded media and animations provide further explanation and engage students in reading. Also, learners can check their understanding of material by working through the questions in the chapter.

MyLab Accounting also offers the flexibility to assign problems through a variety of Question Types: Final Answer, Open Response, Algorithmic Testbank, and General Ledger questions. Each question type is designed to offer students an opportunity to apply course concepts in a unique format.

And with auto-graded Excel Projects, instructors can now seamlessly integrate Excel content into their course—without having to manually grade spreadsheets. Students have the opportunity to practice important accounting skills in Microsoft Excel, helping them to master key concepts and gain proficiency with the program.

And there you have it. That was a quick look at just a handful of the valuable features in MyLab Accounting.
