Through this work, we found that Revel Sociology delivers an engaging learning experience while developing the necessary skills and knowledge to be successful in class.

Specifically, she named her ability to accomplish the following in MediaShare: • Time-stamping specific feedback in students’ videos to support their development of public speaking skills • Providing more feedback to students’ videos because of the ability to copy and paste feedback in MediaShare’s grading rubric • Looking across assignments for the same student to determine whether a problem is recurring and adjusting her grading and communication with the student accordingly

In August 2020, Pearson published a correlational efficacy study with the University of North Carolina at Greensboro that found a positive relationship between students continuously improving on programming tasks in Revel Java Programming and overall student success in the course. To understand if this is a shared outcome across a wide variety of institutions, we identified instructors who were using Revel Java Programming in a similar way to the instructor in the efficacy study and interviewed them about their experience using Revel.

This study was conducted by Pearson's Impact Evaluation Team as part of their efficacy reporting. The purpose of the study was to explore the potential relationship between the use of Revel and its intended outcomes. Pearson conducted the study with 114 students taking an introductory computer science course between the Spring 2018 and Fall 2019 semesters. The students were attending the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). Our analysis suggests that students tended to persist with programming tasks in Revel, despite these tasks authentically mimicking the challenges a professional programmer might face in a competitive workplace.

Student survey shows students enjoyed their experience with Revel, the vast majority finding it a better solution than their previous textbook, believing it was a good value for the money and it increased their understanding of the course material.

Hatheway-Dial saw the need to include Excel proficiency in her course for two main reasons: employers were asking for graduates with Excel skills, and a working knowledge of Excel would help students in their subsequent business courses. Hatheway-Dial used MyLab IT for Excel practice and assessment and offered an incentive for students to sit for the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Excel certification exam. Data show that 63% of students who completed all MyLab IT assignments passed the Microsoft Office Specialist Excel certification exam, while just 25% of students who skipped one or more assignments passed.

Data indicate that students with above average Dynamic Study Module scores earned average MyLab quiz scores 15 percentage points higher than those with below average DSM scores. 94% of respondents on an end-of-semester survey agreed that having access to MyLab assignments and the eText [through the Pearson Inclusive Access model] on the first day of class increased their chances of getting a good grade in this course.

This study was conducted by Pearson's Impact Evaluation Team as part of their efficacy reporting. In Fall 2017 and Spring 2018, Pearson set out to explore whether the use of Revel is related to learner outcomes in areas like student experience, engagement, completion, and achievement. After conducting a study with 316 students taking Introduction to Psychology at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, researchers found that students who obtained higher quiz scores in Revel tended to do better on course exams. Not only that, survey data suggested that students had a positive learning experience using Revel; many reported it was a more efficient way to study than using other resources.

Students who completed all MyLab IT Simulation Trainings earned average Grader Project scores 11 percentage points higher than students who skipped one or more Simulation Trainings. Students who scored above average on MyLab IT Grader Projects earned average exam scores 12 percentage points higher than students who scored below average on Grader Projects. On an end-of-semester survey, 96% of respondents agreed that their understanding of the course material increased as a result of using MyLab IT.
