In this video we show an interesting twist to this theory—the role of hybridization between two species in the evolution of a third.
In the previous video we explained how and why two species on Daphne fortis and scandens interbred and how as a result of integration both species became genetically and morphologically more variable.
We suggested that this increased variation could enhance evolution in response to natural selection.
If such birds flew to another island, their novel genetic composition and phenotypic characteristics could be the starting point of a new evolutionary trajectory and eventually lead to the origin of the new species
