Just-in-Time Adaptive Practice

New Exercises For Select ©2017 Titles*

Instructors can choose to make Skill Builder exercises available within MyLab Math and MyLab Statistics homework assignments to give students just-in-time adaptive practice. When students are struggling with their assigned homework additional adaptive exercises are provided that help each student improve their skills until they are able to complete the assignment. The adaptive engine tracks each student’s performance and delivers questions to each individual that adapt to his or her level of understanding. When the system has determined that the student has a high probability of successfully completing the assigned exercise, it suggests that the student return to the assignment. When Skill Builder is enabled for an assignment, students can choose to do the extra practice without being prompted. This new feature allows instructors to assign fewer questions for homework, allowing students to complete as many or as few questions as needed.

Enhanced User Interface

Updated User-Friendly Student Experience

To provide students with a more user-friendly experience, a majority of the student interface has been updated with a clean, modern look and feel. Course Home, the Homework and Tests page, and the student Gradebook (Results) page have been redesigned to ensure they are usable on mobile devices with minimal pinching and zooming. Instructor announcements are now at the top of Course Home so they are prominently displayed to students. Study Plan and pages for instructors will be refreshed in upcoming releases.

Course Management Improvements

New Question Feedback in Review Mode

If instructors retain the default settings in their MyLab, students will now be able to see the answer feedback when they review their tests, quizzes, and homework. Also, feedback for all parts of homework questions will remain available to students at all times so they can pinpoint exactly where their errors occurred.

Updates to Learning Catalytics

Available by July 31, 2016

  • PowerPoint compatibility updates will allow instructors to upload a full PowerPoint deck to slide questions so that they don't have to recreate each slide as a separate question or use two separate applications at once.
  • A Student-created Team Names update will relax the rules for joining teams in Team-Based Modules. Specifically, this will ensure that students no longer have to worry about case sensitivity when joining a team.
  • The results coloring functionality has been updated so that non-scorable results are shown in gray, allowing instructors to easily distinguish these results from incorrect answers.
